COVID-19 From Work

Illinois presumes that certain employees testing positive for COVID-19 become sick through work. This should make it easier for infected employees to receive workers’ compensation benefits. Please be aware that this is just a presumption. Insurance companies can and will seek to rebut this presumption and deny your benefits.

You are entitled to compensation for lost wages. Your employer is responsible for related medical bills. Lastly, you are entitled to a settlement or award for the permanent injury you suffer. Certain family members are entitled to benefits in the unfortunate situation of a worker succumbing to this illness.

If you test positive for COVID-19 and your job exposes you to the public, we strongly recommend contacting our office for a free case evaluation. It is important to act quickly and secure the necessary evidence to protect your benefits.
